Listening to Audio Recordings

How to benefit from these talks:

To fully benefit from these teachings, try to listen as if you were in class yourself. Reduce distractions to a minimum, and sit comfortably. You might even want to take notes!

If you don't have time to listen to the whole lecture, note the time displayed on the Player. Next time, you can use the slider to resume listening from that exact point.

Modem

You will need at least a 28.8k modem connection to the web. Unless your modem is very old, your Internet connection will probably be fine.

Playing RealOne Player Files

You will need a recent version of the free RealOne Player. (If you're not sure whether you already have it or not, try listening to one of the Dharma talks in RealOne Player format. If it plays, you've got it. It can take 20 seconds or so to start.)

If you don't yet have the free audio player, you can easily get it from the RealOne Player website. There are several versions available there, including those for retail. But there is one version that you can download for free. Look for that ("free player" or "free Realone Player") and then click on it to download the player.

Each Dharma talk in RealOne Player format has two options: "Listen" or "Download". Click "Listen" if you wish to listen to the talk immediately, or "Download" to copy the audio file to your computer so that you can listen to the talk later without having to connect to this website. Remember where the file is saved on your computer and double-click on it to play-back. You could also save the file to a location of your choice by right-clicking on the file and selecting "Save Target As" or an equivalent instruction.

Playing MP3 Files

Click "Download" to copy the audio file to your computer so that you can listen to the talk later without having to connect to this website. Remember where the file is saved on your computer and double-click on it to play-back. You could also save the file to a location of your choice by right-clicking on the file and selecting "Save Target As" or an equivalent instruction.

If you don't yet have the free audio player, you can get it from the following websites:

Windows 95/98/2000/XP: http://www.winamp.com/

Mac OS: http://www.mp3-mac.com/Pages/MP3_Players-Mac.html
