Vajrasattva Retreat 2005:
Motivations by Kevin - Mar 30, 2005
Maybe
subject
to change without notice!
"The Six Perfections"
I thought I would share a wonderful exercise
using the Six Perfections (paramitas) that are an integral part
of this bodhisattva path that we have joyfully accepted.
So we have Generosity, Ethical Discipline, Patience,
Joyous Effort, Concentration and Wisdom.
It involves reflecting at different times during
the day, maybe as part of each of a session for the day. And using
the Six Perfections create combinations of them - let me describe
this further. Instead of just reflecting on Generosity, you could
reflect of the Wisdom of Generosity, the Joyous Effort of Generosity,
or the Ethical Discipline of Generosity.
"MY retreat experience"
Answers to Venerable's questions about our retreat
experience (i.e. best thing learned, strongest thing that came up
during retreat, and what would you like to take back with you).
Stream of consciousness:
- Teachings we received - the importance of studying them and
putting them into practice
- Guru Devotion
- 37 Practices of Bodhisattvas
- Wheel of Sharp Weapons
- The Determination to be Free
- Dependent Arising & Emptiness
- Antidotes to our (my) disturbing attitudes
- Be Content
- Bodhicitta
- Our Vajrasattva Retreat Dharma family
and the extended
retreat community
I can change the way I am
contradicts the frequent statement
/ thought, "That's just how I am?"
- Dharma is my top priority
- How can I be of the greatest benefit to the people in my life
(as well as all sentient beings)?
- The mysteries of an intimate relationship - What are the attractions?
What are the expectations? How do I exaggerate what I think Jan
can give me?
- Don't take it personally
- My host of Ego-Protectors ' my sentinels that guard me and my
Eight Worldly Concerns
- Just how strong is the self-grasping and the self-cherishing
attitude
