Vajrasattva Retreat 2005:

On 5 January 2005, a three-month Vajrasattva Retreat was held at Sravasti Abbey. During the retreat, each morning the participants took turns leading their fellow retreatants in cultivating a good motivation for their meditation that day. You may want to read one of these motivations each morning to inspire your practice

Motivations by Miles - Feb 19, 2005

"Your stream of consciousness is like a highway, so keep the energy flowing."

Lama Yeshe.

Good morning. What is Samsara? This question has had me spinning for days now. After all, understanding this creates urgency in one's life. Urgency equally to having a fire on your head. I don't know about you, but there's no fire on this head. So I dwelled on this…

I noticed that when I hear one of our mother sentient beings (fly) crash into a window, burn on a light or pass away right in front of me that it is hard not to cringe. My bones freeze and the knot in my heart won't even allow for a tear to fall. It is the worst feeling, but it is not my suffering.

My suffering is my own inability to help. My own imprisoned mind. Stuck in the mud of confusion.

"I wish I could help this bug. I wish I could help all the oceans of sentient beings." I rejoice because I know that what we're doing here is the best. We are doing the best thing in the best place. Blessed with the greatest friends and a peerless supreme spiritual leader.

Let's change this world today!
